Determining the right disaster recovery solution for you.
Hyperlink takes the guesswork and complexity out of creating a Disaster Recovery Solution(DRS) by providing a range of options that can accommodate the disaster scenarios and degree of risk management for which you need to plan.
The determination on what level of DR is needed can be simply made by envisioning the potential disaster scenarios you may encounter and determining how they can adversely affect the revenue of your company.
A good indication of how much you need to spend to create a DR environment is 10 - 20% of your expected revenue loss for any particular disaster. For example - A total server failure and loss of data can typically take from 24 to 72 hours to restore, depending on the availability of replacement hardware and the complexity of your environment. A loss of an Internet or network feed is much more difficult to predict because it is totally dependent on the hardware platforms of your network provider. However, it is important to remember that even 99.5% availability can translate into 43.8 hours of outage over a year. Hyperlink Disaster Recovery optionsCold Standby Hardware with Restore: Hyperlink will store compatible hardware and customer backup provided on removable media, in our secure storage facility. When required, Hyperlink will, on one hours notice, begin to bring your cold standby hardware into service and restore your provided backup to the cold hardware. Estimated time to restore; 5 - 10 hours - depending on the complexity of the configuration and amount of data to be restored
Hot Standby Hardware with Restore: Hyperlink will store compatible hardware and customer backup provided on removable media in our telco-grade Data Centre with connection to the Internet or WAN. When required, Hyperlink will, on one hour notice, begin to restore your provided backup to the already running hardware.
Estimated time to restore; 2 - 5 hours - depending on the amount of data to be restored
Offsite Data Storage and Recovery: Hyperlink will provide a telecommunications link, from your premises, to our telco-grade Data Centre. Depending on the requirement, this link can be a private leased-line, private network DSL or Internet VPN tunnel. This link will be used to transmit backup data from your servers to a network storage device (NSD) in the Hyperlink Data Centre. When required, Hyperlink will, on one hour notice, transfer your latest backup on removable media, or make your data available for retrieval, via Secure SSH, over your connection.
Estimated time to restore data; 2 - 3 hours - depending on the amount of data to be transferred.
Off-Site, Mirrored Server: Hyperlink will house your compatible, hot-standby hardware in our telco-grade Data Centre and provide a dedicated connection to your existing servers in on your site. The dedicated connection will be used to keep your servers synchronised. In the event of a failure, the dedicated connection will provide connectivity for your users to the standby servers in the Hyperlink facility.
Estimated time to recover: 5 - 10 minutes Summary
Hyperlink will work with you to bring to fruition the right Disaster Recovery Solution that meets your needs.
Our DR solutions are designed to give piece of mind to your Board Members and management that their risk exposure, through IT and systems failure, to business continuity, data loss and ultimately costly insurance premiums has been minimised through the implementation of a Hyperlink Disaster Recovery Solution.
